Dear Relatives and Friends

Hi, I hope you are all keeping well.

Life at Russettings is much the same, we celebrated VE Day with an indoor street party where we enjoyed an old fashioned sing song and buffet which included Cucumber sandwiches, cocktail sausages, bread pudding and scones with jam and cream. Most of our residents attended.

Many of our residents have not been seen by a Podiatrist since February so I have agreed for our new one to visit. She has and will wear full PPE during treatments.

At present CQC are not visiting care homes for inspections so they are conducting 'Emergency Support' meetings using Zoom. The call is not an inspection there is no rating or report, information from calls don't get published. It is a supportive conversation where we talk about how our service is doing and covers the following topics:

  • Safe Care and treatment
  • Staffing arrangements
  • Protection from abuse
  • Assurance processes, monitoring, and risk management.

They mostly focus on how prepared we are and how we are managing our service during this pandemic. I had my Zoom meeting yesterday and it went very well. Our CQC inspector said that she did not have any concerns.

Last week we tested all of our residents apart from one who had already had a recent test and our staff for COVID-19. I am happy to report that all results for residents and staff have come back as Negative.

I appreciate that many of you have not seen your loved ones for many weeks so I have agreed with my Directors to arrange social distance visiting. This will commence from Friday 19th June. As it is still not safe to have many visitors at once visits will be by appointment only for the following times  -  10.30 to 12midday, 1430 - 1630 or 1830-1930. Please telephone either Vanessa Gardner Cook, Hollie or myself to arrange an appointment. On arrival please ring the front door and a member of staff will walk you around the back to one of our vacant rooms where your relative will be waiting. I would prefer you to sit out side of the patio door however we will have to see how this works in practice especially with our residents who are living with a Dementia. If this doesn't work well or it is raining we shall use the conservatory.

Thank you for your continued support and your donations of sweets and treats for our hardworking staff.

Kindest Regards
